L'Artésien 1764 - 64 Kanonen-Schiff in 1:48 nach Plänen von Jacques Fichant

Now I understand what you're getting at. :) No, the keelson was crafted according to the plans and glued in place after some minor adjustments. The nailing is purely for aesthetics.

Hi Barbossa, I'm a bit confused about the nailing. According to a description from that period, the fastening method is quite different. If you'd like, I can send you the description in a private message. Frank

Hello everyone!

Thank you very much, shota! :)

After attaching the inner deck stringers and the outer decorative moldings, I achieved sufficient rigidity to raise the ship to its final height. I had some concerns that the frames might not be of uniform thickness due to the sanding I had done earlier. Fortunately, this turned out not to be the case.

Hello everyone!

Many thanks, Richard
The passageway to the quarter gallery has been constructed. Additionally, I had overlooked a decorative molding, which has now been added. The upper two wales were also fabricated, their heights measured, and then installed. For this model, I have decided against using India ink for blackening, opting instead to rely on naturally dark wood. I ruled out ebony; however, I was unable to find a suitable source for dark hornbeam online. Consequently—back when I placed the order—I settled on Mansonia Beete. It currently appears somewhat light in color, but during the final oil treatment, it will darken significantly, approaching a black tone.

Hi Barbossa, I was wondering: are you just following the monograph, or are you also reading any books on construction? Frank

Many thanks, colleagues, for your kind words! For the *Artésien*, I am working strictly according to the plans. However, Boudriot's volumes on the 74-gun ship are always kept close at hand when it comes to the construction.
