In indirect light or full sunlight? In indirect light the colors are much deeper. Post # 422 was taken in indirect light (LED’s) which makes the decks look much darker. I guess I need to know more about what puzzles you. There is something that puzzles me, it will be the effect of light
You are correct. I'm happy with what I was able to accomplish. I've got enough of the deck painting done and can now concentrate on finishing the final deck.Jan, I can imagine that it is indeed very difficult to get an accurate impression of what it looks like in real life. In natural light, the oak on the WB looks much nicer, so I would imagine you have the same experience. The big question is whether you are happy with the finish.
Good morning Jan. It is beautiful. I could do that for a week or two but I need sunshine and heat or I go a little mad.The day after the storm. Looking in the same direction as post #417.

Estimated accumulation of about 13 inches. Nice to look at but. a big PITA to clear.
I love the look and feel. It is very realistic. The oak of the lower deck is way better in these pictures IMHO. Personally I would have done all the decks as your upper two. It’s like the ship has been at sea for a year and just returning to port - that’s just me. Stunning model. Cheers GrantWow, I had to do it. The Sun is out and it’s 48F/9C out. So pictures in natural light.

Hi, I don't know, the colouring of the three bridges is not the same, the central one is lighter while the other two are darker. And then they look stained, as if the colour had fallen on it. Did you use bitumen? In indirect light or full sunlight? In indirect light the colors are much deeper. Post # 422 was taken in indirect light (LED’s) which makes the decks look much darker. My painting is not the best. The two upper decks were stained with two coats of Patina, heavily sanded between coats, over sprayed with a coat of Minwax Light Oak, lightly sanded with 320 grit and then sealed with two coats of rattle can Miniwax Clear Satin Polyurethane. I stained the main deck with with two coats of Minwax Dark Oak, sanded lightly with 320 grit and then sealed it the same way as the other two decks. The various “ hues/colors” seem to change depending on the light reflection.Hi, I don't know, the colouring of the three bridges is not the same, the central one is lighter while the other two are darker. Yup, that’s the scheme. A working ship that has made the treasure voyages many times. If you were looking for used and abused you achieved it!
It’s looking nice, Jan. And if the Admiral says so, then so be it.I’ve looked at Pavel’s painting results, pictures and videos, over and over. But alas I have neither the skills, experience and “patience“ needed to replicate his work. (BTW, have I ever mentioned I don’t like to paint )
My Admiral was looking over my shoulder as I was editing the picture below on my Mac

and said “Wow, that looks great”. Who could possible disagree with that
I''m glad that you like the "Look". It's been fun getting to this point.I agree with the Admiral. The picture that you have edited looks great!
Yup, I never argue with her logic. Besides she knows where I live. It’s looking nice, Jan. And if the Admiral says so, then so be it.

Good morning Jan. Stunning. The last time I’m saying it…I love the look and feel effect you are getting on your San Bartolome. The deck, outer and curved bulkhead are magic. Cheers GrantMore news fro the San Bartolome shipyard. A snowmaking storm forecast for this weekend stayed to the south of us, so no need to worry about cleaning up outside. Not taking advantage of the situation I trooped off to the shipyard and

worked on what Pavel's video #27 describes as "The Aftercastle Deck Build". His video shows him doing this build step in about 20 or so minutes. Between the dry fitting, sanding, filing, staining and gluing I got half of it done. I've also cleaned up the char and beveled the planks that will be laid down for the deck. My time for this part of the build is about seven hours.
