POF L'Amarante Corvette de 12 canons 1744 1:36 (Ancre Monograph- Gérard Delacroix) By Shota

Hello dear friends
It's been several weeks since my last update on the building, the main reason is focusing on preparing the ship's waterline.
The work included drawing the line, individual preparation of each ebony plank according to the planking plan that produces a continuous and beautiful line.
I would like to clarify that sometimes I dedicated about two to three hours to each ebony plank board, starting from the drawing stage of each plank, checking its suitability for the boards and frames next to them and on which it will be placed/glued.
This stage required a lot of sanding as well as shaping curves with steam, heat and attaching to a jig that would determine the configuration.
After that, the gluing at the bow and especially at the bottom of the stern required patience and assistance with bushings for wooden clamps/clamps.
And finally, many sandings were carried out until a smooth and even surface was obtained, on which linseed oil was applied.
In the next stage, I will prepare pear wood planks that will connect to the line of ebony extensions, creating a full cover for the keel.

Until then, I wish you all a pleasant and enjoyable weekend.

Good evening dear friends ☺️
Hope you are well
Tonight after about two weeks of work I reached another stage - installing the planking on the side of the ship.
Now we can see the combination of the natural shades of the 3 types of wood (Swiss pear, boxwood and ebony)
I have more sanding work to do, installing wooden nails, smoothing / final sanding and oil to give depth to the color of the wood.
So until then enjoy the pictures

Congratulations with your planking job, Shota. A beautiful combination of different types of wood!
Regards, Peter

You've reached another milestone. Congratulations on the result, my friend. I see you used ebony for the waterline.

What was the reason for suddenly laying the planks differently?
Tobias , my dear friend
First of all thank you very much for the kind words and compliments
the planking in the area that you marked in red in the picture, (made of ebony wood) is based on the plan in the monograph as well as the most impressive and beautiful work of our friend Richi (Giampy65).
I am attaching pictures from his diary
