Sorry to be a simpleton but I am building the Occre Santisima Trinidad section and I have been trying to see how the rigging was done. I see you have posted a YouTube video of the rigging on your model but I don't know how to access it. Any hints please.

Re: OcCre Santisima Trinidad Build Log

I think I might have found a combination that looks ok to me. I am using an Oil Pastel by Prang Sketcho "Oil Pastel Crayons" This is the dark brown color applied to only one side of the Planks. Then I put a small amount of Satin Polyurethane.

Hi Donnie, yes I used some Conte hard Pastel for the same effect, it worked quite well, only thing was using pencil still gibes a slightly thinner line for the false caulking, not an easy call to make I think.

Congratulations Donnie with a model you can be very proud of, thank you for sharing this built with us in a very informative log.

Dear Donnie
Many thanks for your help. I am afraid my modelling skills are nowhere near your standard but your help is in valuable.

I want to sincerely thank each one of you for helping me along the way to complete this huge project (at least for me it was). It was 5 1/2 years in the making.
I also want to say "thank you" very much for all the kind words. Even though, I think some of you are just trying to be nice !!! :) I assure you all that there are many other great model ships built here and on other forums that I have to take my hat off to and stand in awe of. It is all of you that I have taken my encouragement from and being educated on what to do and what not to do.
I have been so busy at work that I have not been able to do any hobbies at home since around April 2014. I finally had a break during the Thanksgiving Holidays (USA Holiday) to enjoy some time off.
I know of several that are now taking on this model with MUCH more enthusiasm and MUCH more talent and ingeniousness than me to add extra touches that I just either did not have the foresight or the resources to go thru the extra as some of you have.
At any rate, I present all of my best modeling friends here on this forum my accomplishment to the extent that I can only say that I did my best with what I had. I must add that my heart goes out to the new coming modeler that is often filled with excitement and then dismayed when they realize that the instructions are most often very much lackluster.

If OcCre just so happens to read this, take note: Please take note of your rigging plates and please revise them and think about the modeler for one time.

Re: OcCre Santisima Trinidad Build Log

This view shows how I use a simple method of bending the two planks preparing them for placement as the Garboard Plank. You will notice the hard twist in near the middle. This view show that even though the instruction do not mention anything at all about fairing the stern, I decided to do so. It will allow for planking to fit better and to be able to sand it down to a better finish.

Hello My Name is Ray,I have been looking at your build, I have just begun this build myself and im at this point I bought this model on ebay and think I didn't get all the instructions, because at this stage there is no info on where to trim the with of the planking. Can you help me with that im at a stop until I can get this info. Thank you.

Thanks for your reply I will try this. Thank you

This is a build log of OcCre's 1/90 Santisima Trinidad. This ship has been built or is in process of being built by a few freinds here of which I am thankful for their guidance and help. I am sure that I will be asking for help along the way. So I thank each one of you in advance for your encouragement.

So with much anticipation here is my build log. The image is seen with all contents. This image is very familiar with those undertaking the task of building this ship. But, for those that might want to see the latest box of contents, it is here below. I received this ship December 21, 2008.

Thanks for joining me in this build.

Donnie
ps I want to thank Charles for sending me the English Version of instructions.

Box Contents as of 12-26-08

Thank you for posting this info its very helpful for me. I've been stuck with the planking but Im confident in moving
Forward with it now.

Re: OcCre Santisima Trinidad Build Log

I have made a decision. I am not going to put full cannons/carriages of any type on the Third (waist) deck.
1) I want to focus my energy on the main deck detailing the cannons there.
2) I decided to use the original cannons / carriages that came with kit.
3) I am going to paint the kit carriages with a dark red and use original cannons.
4) I am going to add the ring-bolts to the kit carriages along with 2.5mm (3/32") walnut single blocks.
5) I might deviate and put some howitzers on main deck.

I have already made the decision last night and then I glued the main deck onto frame using Tite Bond II glue. I did not use Cynoacrylate because I needed the time for the parts to be positioned and added weights to the main deck to hold it in place for about 12 hours. I believe that I will be happy with my decision. Why the decision? Well, I know what my limits are I guess. I would rather focus my energy on the main deck. I am bracing myself for a lot of tedious work on the cannon modification.
howitzer? lol
