Work continues. Installed trim pieces where decks meet boat sides.

Next installed false keel on outer hull. Began by gluing at stern working towards bow.

The last photo shows the cut water on the bow. I failed to take any photos of this when I built it. Scott covers it well in his manual.

Once the false keel was attached I shaped it with 80# then smoothed with 150#.

Thanks for looking.
Glenn
Just echo everyone else Glenn. Fantastic.

Glenn, when you beveled the eighth strake and on, did you bevel the entire strake or only where the the strongback frame curves?
Sorry for such a delayed answer.

I beveled "as needed" to keep the gap between the strakes as minimal as possible. Many many trial fits.

Glenn

Some time has been spent in the shipyard over the past several weeks but I didn't take photos along the way. Here is my current progress:

Cap rails installed. Stern cap and Stern Mast Cleat installed. Benches, thole pins and oar pivots installed.

I echo Paul and Don's words - just beautiful Glenn! Thumbsup

Thank you everyone for these wonderful words of encouragement!

Work continues. Making the oars: began by filing a groove into the edge of a leftover strake with one of my riffler files.

Next I sanded the strake smooth on bothering sides, then cut two paddle halves for each oar at a 60° angle. Then I sanded each half to its final shape with 80# sanding block. Finally I glued the grooved edge to the oar shaft.

I gave the entire boat a final inspection, carefully smoothing any areas that needed it, and insuring no glue was visible. The mast was attached. I wanted to have everything glued before oiling to avoid problems.

Then oil was applied. I used Watco Danish Oil, natural (no coloring). Here the stand, oars and rudders have been oiled with the boat prior to oiling to show the difference before and after with the mohagony I was provided.

And here is the boat immediately after the first coat of oil.

It still needs more coats of oil with at least a day or two between each coat.

Thank you for looking and all of the likes,
Glenn

I finished it. After finishing with Danish Oil it just needed the sail, rigging and odds and ends like net, basket and rock anchor.

Maya, my constant companion, decided to photobomb a few pics.

Now it's time to get back to my Galleon

Congratulations.
Good effort with excellent results.
It’s good to see other modelers creating their own thing on a model that someone has built before.
Excellent.
You should be proud.

I love it, Glenn! Thanks for helping pave the way.

And just like that you are finished???!!! :D Wow Glenn you have created an absolutely beautiful Sea of Galilee boat - your woodwork, the cleanliness and the accuracy are all as close to perfect as can be. You can be extremely proud of her.
