the Colonial Schooner Hannah in 1/48 [COMPLETED BUILD]

good evening dear friends
today I focused on , Fixing the Frame Tops. I Used Hahn's profile plan, and measure from the top of the planking line down to the deck line , and transfer the measurements to each frame to locate the top of the deck clamp.
For ease in making the upper portion of the frames into half frames from , frame M forward, score each frame with a Dremel tool and cutoff wheel at the lines you just marked.
I Installed 1/16" x 1/4" deck clamps from frame N forward at these score lines. then I Used a #10 Xacto to trim away and remove the frame part above the score
lines.
I would like to point out that the work is in progress and I have not yet finished both sides of the ship of the lower deck

In the last few days I have not been able to take time to work on the ship.
Tonight I finally got back to her and actually finished designing the frames into half frames on one side of the deck.
I am attaching a picture

Hello dear friends
In The last few days I have not been able to work much on the ship because my back has been caught. Which I did manage to complete to inished designing the frame into half frames on both side of the deck. I will still have to sand and smooth the parts so that they are the same thickness and also beautiful to the eye.

Just catching up on this build (since SOS doesn't notify me by email of new posts!). You are doing an excellent job on this, Shota She is looking great! Congratulations!

Is there any inboard bulwark planking planned? This is something I've been pondering in my own build because of caulk and glue bleedthrough issues from the outboard planking, and any problems with the frame top timbers.

Hello mates. Sorry for the trouble... As the first try, I suggest you 'unwatch' the threads you have trouble receiving notifications and 'watch again. Also, clear the 'cache' of your browser. Lastly, try another browser. If your OS is Windows 10, try the new Edge browser by Microsoft, it is base on Chromium code. Our forum software doesn't require a specific browser to view its content. ;)
 
I tried it, Jim! Let's see if it works, LOL!

Shota: I think the visible top timbers are an important part of the character of this little ship, but the problem of glue and caulk coloring bleedthrough is real. Sanding or scraping it away would be tedious, and probably not that effective. One solution would be to use veneer or thin planking of the same kind as the outboard planking. It would give the illusion of only one layer of planking and not hide the tops of the frame timbers. Lots of work, though! I'm going to continue thinking about this!

Today my back pain improved and I was able to sit a little longer and work on the ship. I managed to make the railing of the deck, open a window and view it from the inside with wooden boards. Much satisfaction from little doing, we will keep updated later

Hello dear friends
In recent days I have started to prepare the railing of the upper deck. Unfortunately I put down the railing before narrowing the stern ribs. So with the help of alcohol I removed the railing and started cutting the ribs. I am in the middle of the process, hoping the result will be of the required quality

Hello Shota, Sorry to see that you are having a bit of trouble with your Hannah build. I tried to add a link to a sight that has a lot of information on your Hannah but the sight would not allow it. I suggest that you go over to Model Ship Builders and type in Colonial Schooner Hannah 1/4 scale.....by Mario, I believe this will help you out.

If you need anything at Shota i am here from time to time. This little boat has been a journey. Using alcohol is good. i use water when I glue with white glue.
When you add the deck clamps make sure they are placed at proper height so your cannons will sit right at the opening. Funny I took the time to do this and now I plan not place the cannons on the boat.
