USS Constitution by Model Shipways 1:76 scale

Hi

This weekend marked the completion of the hull planking. The planks give a good scale representation and where quite easy to work with but being 1/8" wide there was a lot of planks to attach. From the whale down there are 36 rows of planks and each row was divided into four pieces.
The strips provided in the kit needed to be machined to the correct size 1/8" as there was a fair bit of variation mainly oversize.

Last few rows this is where it gets tricky.

A few stealers had to be added along the way to keep things on track.

A bit more sanding and some filler will finish the hull but I'm going to complete the rails first.

Thanks for the kind words very encouraging.

The planking job looks great, and sounds! Another milestone has been archived. Love your tooling and various jigs, the skills you acquired at your primary job pay off.
Thanks for the comments this is the first time I've tried using a aluminium building jig and I'm very happy with it. I really miss not having access to a machine shop there's a lot of other things I would like to make

Hello, New here, I started this build about a 3 months ago, just finished planking the deck. looking forward to sharing and following along others builds.

Hi Rich
It would be great to see some pictures of your build. What are your thoughts on this kit I'm finding it very different to the other models I have built.
