USS Constitution by Model Shipways 1:76 scale

Hey Tony,

My weekly update....

The first time I glued copper plates to a hull....
But, I think it's not too bad: the solid copper plates are very beautiful....
However: 1 092 each side so far and not yet finished!

gluing is not easy:
If you apply too much glue, the glue will come over the edges... and since it is CA....
On the other hand, if you apply too little glue, the edges will come loose...
At the end of applying copper I will share my findings with you...
But one thing is certain: the copper plates are much nicer than the tape supplied with the kit...
Do you already have an idea what you are going to do with the hull?

Marc

Hi Marc
Sorry for the late reply. I have not decided how I'm going to do my copper plating yours looks very good, the Amati plates are the best I've seen. I have some Caldercraft copper plates and the copper tape to experiment with when the time comes.
Tony

Gentlemen,
Today I finished applying the solid copper plates to the hull. In particular, finishing and applying the cap plates received my special attention: see photos. I applied an extra layer on top of the curved cap plates to finish everything nicely.

Believe it or not... :) but 1,456 plates on each side: a total of 2912 !
I don't know if you share my opinion, but it looks much nicer and more valuable than the in the kit supplied self-adhesive copper foil....

I haven't seen anything about prices on the forum yet: hopefully I'm not committing a sin against this, but the additional cost was 8 sets (2 x 182 plates each set) = +- 120 € without transport...

Dear Tony,

I would like (again) ask your help: I wanted to start to provide copper plates at the supplied rudder.
And also add the pintles and gudgeons (as shown on sheet 4 left corner - down).
Are they supplied with the kit?
because I don't find them and are wondering if we have them to make by ourself?

Idem question for the capstan assembly: on page 25 of the instruction manual they mention laser cut8
I don't find them niether, or I'm missing something.

Could you please have a look?

Thx

Marc
