USS Constitution by Model Shipways 1:76 scale

Again an update because this was so far the most difficult part to realize. I'm not completely satisfied with the details but the other side will be much cleaner ....
My Error 9999999999:
I added in a previous step some wood filler to get a smoother surface.... and painted it black.
But when I glued a decorative molding above the windows, all the gunk came loose... and I had to sand everything off... and start over. With all its consequences....

Dear Tony,

I would like to ask for your advice (again). My next step is to make the bow. No laser-cut parts were supplied, so everything from scratch. An important detail is the decoration: it is supplied laser-cut, but with a very thin plate of wood.
Now I don't really know what to do with this. The decoration must be painted in white and then glued to the bow between 2 slats....
I don't dare cut them out directly from the supplied plywood as I am almost certain there will be damage.
I took a photocopy with the intention of cutting it out and glue it on plywood....after painting this paper white.... but almost impossible as the curves are so fine that I have not yet managed to cut them out so precisely....
Could you please take a look at this topic?

Hi Marc
Firstly great work on the stern and gallery windows, I'll be starting mine soon.
The bow is full of problems again it's difficult to know how to do it until I get to that stage. I think it will be done with a lot of trial and error. It would have been a lot easier if the decorations had been made from PE brass. I may try painting within the laser cut lines but I don't think my hand is steady enough to achieve a good result. I have seen another log where the decorations where cut from thin white styrene.

Hello Tony,

Ihanks for your advice. I think so too. So today I cut out the decoration manually with a cutter. But easier said than done. The material is very fragile. I broke the thin connections at least ten times: I immediately glued the particles back together with CA glue and sanded them off after drying.....I think it is impossible to cut it out completely according to the laser lines.....maybe you have more magic in your hands, or a machine in your lab?

In any case, the cutting is much nicer because you get the relief...
I did my best and painted after three very light sandings... not perfect but....
The kit is already several years old (more than 10 years) and outdated.
And indeed they should have made this out of brass: see decoration HMS fly from AMATI...
I hope I don't offend anyone here, but for such a beautiful ship this was a minimum....

Marc
