Bluenose 1/72 POF [COMPLETED BUILD]

And does the Loctite work as well as what you used before? I am on a never-ending search to find a CA glue I can work with - and not because of allergy - I simply hate the stuff. So far my best bet has been Pattex.

Yes it is the same with the exception that it has no odor or very little, I could not smell it and it didn’t burn my nose like regular CA. In addition it is low bloom, meaning it won’t turn white and make your work look ugly! I only use it to glue metal to wood. And sometimes to plank the hull without using clamps. ;)

It is good to see that you can progress again in a safe manner. I am fortunate not to be allergic to the adhesives and cannot smell any of them. Not quite the same when I have to remove something that I set with the CA when I use acetone to soften it up. That I do smell as well as the contact hazard that it may pose to my fingers and if inhaled. Oh well, at this stage of life pass some things by that I would not have earlier. Rich

Gentlemen, have you ever heard about Mercury Adhesives? I am using their line of products for a very long time. They have a full line of CA glue from very thin to very thick, they will never clog and dries transparent. I encourage you to check to try their glues.

I'll try it. It would come in handy for fixing ropes without wearing a mask...
I mentioned it, because I know you have the same problem with allergic reactions, that give you flu like symptoms. So I am hoping it will work for you too. You still need adequate ventilation, but being low odor and low bloom, it is much better to work with!

Thank you Jimsky, those look promising too! As long as it is low odor and low bloom, then it should be the same result.

I got some new CA glue that I can use without an allergic reaction…

So…the foremast got stain, paint, and some hardware…so making progress again

I'll have to try it also, I'm in the middle of CA hell right now gluing down veneer strips. I'm especially interested in the low bloom aspect. It seems to happen when the stuff gets too close to moisture which is often since I soak the planks.

I finished all of the metal work on the foremast and glued it in place. Next I have to make some of the single blocks for the gaff, and hook them on the foremast, in preparation for rigging.
I also got to use my new wire bending tool. Works very well. I bought it so I can make my own eyes and hoops. ;)

That foremast looks the business! Some very neat wire bending and hooks there. The tool was obviously worth its money.
Nicely done. The assembly that I am facing is on the foremast boom with the two narrow metal bands supporting the vertical rod which engages the boom. YQ worked around that it seems with the wood parts but metal bands wrapped and fastened on the fore side, per the elevation detail will likely take me few attempts. Your upper wire bale is very precise and symmetrical. Well done. Rich

I was thinking how nice it is to have met and befriended all these great people on SOS from all over the world.
Which led me to think about my nationality and ethnicity.
Being a typical American, my ancestors are immigrants. But mine are very diverse. So let us start with my grandparents:
Dads father - Benat (French)
Dads mother - Sacco (Italian)
Moms father - Coose (Dutch)
Moms mother - Wisbaum (German)

So there you have it…I’m a real mutt…lol. I am the result of my grandparents migration and their children. :p
So if someone asks me what ethnicity I am…how do I answer that? ;)

I've been using Gorilla CA for quite some time now - completely odorless. Can't stand epoxy.
