Good morning Vic. After all the disagreements you had with your &@#£$’s , it’s looking good. Did the false keel just pop from all the “pressure “ needed on those dreaded planks? It looks like you can sort that ok tho. Cheers GrantRounding off the unintended sharp edges. View attachment 355603
Looks like you have some burns on the inside of the bow planks. Is that from your plank bender? Thanks for the likes. I’m now installing partial frames. They’re thin, but tend to break. View attachment 356045
Actually, I don't have a plank bender. I used a soldering iron. That area will be covered by a deck above, a slat deck running the length of the boat, and ballast.Looks like you have some burns on the inside of the bow planks. Is that from your plank bender?
The hull looks very nice!
Great observation, Vic, also if you want to avoid waiting for a day, you can put the material under HOT water and try bending with your fingers little by little. Yet another method is a steam box.Later I found that soaking the frames for a day and bending them with my finger worked better with no scorching and no breaking of frames.
Good morning Vic. You are making some serious progress here. The month’s challenge with your twist and turning planks has certainly paid dividends. You owned it.Ready for ribs. View attachment 355999
It’s hard to believe that it represents a month’s worth of work.
Great work Vic. Looking awesome. BTW what is “disc golf”?I placed the frames a little closer together in the middle because it needs more support there to keep from imploding. View attachment 356621
Your soldering iron appears to have heat controls - did you try turning it down a bit? I found I needed to re-wet the wood when the heat dried it out. You can't burn wet wood.I scorched some of my frames using the soldering iron.
