HMAV BOUNTY - A “face lift “

Terrific views of those terrific models. I always had a soft spot for the Victory and you certainly built a beauty.
Good evening Roger. Thank you very much. Of the 2 and a half ships I have built so far she is my favourite. While my ship building has improved (hopefully ;) ) the Victory as model on display looks so good. Cheers Grant

Your Victory is such an impressive build. I have the Caldercraft Victory kit sitting on a shelf waiting its turn. However, I know if I start it the Syren will gather cobwebs ;).

Good afternoon Roger. Now that is a build I would like to see- a Roger’s Victory ! Would be something to behold. I am with you- definitely finish one before starting another else I would have a litany of unfinished ships….Cheers Grant

Quite the compliment Grant - nothing like 1:48 pressure ROTF.

Good afternoon. Whew….I finally have shipyard time. It’s been a while…. Some more work was done on the tops and Mizzen mast

Redo and extras:
I did not like my deadeyes and strops for the mast tops. Shredded these…:D.

The deadeyes on the Mizzen top are the old ones but checking for fit. The new work is dry fitted and plenty finishing to do. Just good to have some shipyard time again.
Cheers Grant

3 very nice mast tops restoration, Grant.

Beauty! I'm already waiting for the rigging))
Good morning Sergey. Thank you kindly. I enjoy most aspects of rigging. I am indecisive whether to make the rigging very detailed or just the basics. I started out with the plan just to do a quick renovation and it has turned into a complete rebuild.....we will see.

Good morning Peter. Thank you very much. I find restoring old parts way more difficult than making them from scratch. e.g. the masts are renovated while the tops I made from scratch. I am deviating from my objective and keep adding more detail than originally planned. I am going to have to buys some more wood now however still running at $7.00 spend. P.S I'm finally able to ride my bike again. I can stand and use the back brake again so planning another trip....its been a year so a nice gentle one - unfit and "fat" (yep that's me ROTF) is a recipe for disaster.....so my mates need to behave themselvesROTF. Thanks for checking in. Cheers Grant

Lovely upgrades you doing there Grant
Thank you Mark
Hello! It is reliably known that Captain William Bligh ordered the construction of lightweight lattice tops on the Bounty masts. Possible options:

Good morning. Thanks for this. Yes you are correct. I also believe he shortened the yards from the original merchant vessel as well as adding the 4 cannons and 10 swivel guns. Clearly the interior was also redesigned to fit the botany pots etc for the plants. With my project I am rebuilding the original billings kit with some added details. While I am mostly trying to keep some accuracy to the historical ship I am also adding a fair amount of builders license in as well. e.g. my quarter deck cabins, main mast fife rail and the forecastle all deviate from the original ship. One day I will attempt a historically accurate ship......... ;). Thanks again. Cheers Grant

That’s good news, Grant. I am sure your mates will ‘protect’ you.
Regards, Peter

I love what you've done with the place, Grant! Sow's ear into a silk purse. Lovely!

I don't understand how I missed all of this. I may need to unwatch and rewatch. I know I'm not getting alerts from Paul's Kingfisher project. So glad I asked you what you were up to.

As always, my dear sir, a pleasure to watch your work. Thank you for the gift.

Blessings. Peace. Gratitude.
Chuck

I was going through my files and ran across Bligh's treatise. I did a quick search here at SoS but still am not sure if this has been posted before. If it is a repeat, my apologies.
In any case, I hope you and anyone building the Bounty finds the attached interesting. It is 188 pages long so I could only post as a PDF.

Good morning Peter. I hope so too. Im not so sure with my mates tho…ROTF. I’m no where a 100% but you know how it goes- a year almost without a trip so I need some fresh air, serenity and just that feeling one gets riding in some beautiful surroundings.

Could not have said it better, Paul! I think I'm just going to follow along adding emojis of amazement and pleasure.
Good morning Chuck. Thank you very much. I’m also having a problem with some guys log’s dropping off my viewed list (Paul’s @dockattner Kingfisher included). Ahh, it’s a good thing at times as I get to see other guys builds I’m not following. Once again thanks for checking out my Bounty adventure. Cheers Grant

Awe inspiring! I'm glad Chuck turned his fans (of which I am one) onto this re-construction! Thumbs-Up
Good morning Peter. Thank you kindly. Your compliment is encouraging and much appreciated.

Good morning Allan. I have not seen this and it is much appreciated. Will take some reading time and I will most certainly go through it. Thank you. Cheers Grant

Good morning. While I have a little disposable cash (before the admiral starts buying Christmas presentsSpeechless) I thought it prudent to order my next kit. A Christmas present for myself.:D

I am going to give a POF a go. I don't have any fancy milling machines etc so I am aiming for a kit with good quality CNC pre cut parts. If not my POF will look more like a Mexican wave than a model ship...;). I know I will still have to make a gazillion notches so going to be interesting.......hmmmm:rolleyes:. I may be fulfilling the adage - My ambition exceeds my skill.

My two options :
1. HMS Enterprise 1774 1:48 from CAF models. (Chery wood with Boxwood carvings) On sale again after being off the market for a while.
2. HMS Blandford 1:48 from Drydock Models. (Pear wood with Box wood carvings)
Both are admiralty builds with no rigging.

Keith @Keef built a stunning example of the Blandford and he graciously has given me some positive feed back on this kit. You can check this out here :

and another by @Ken :
https://shipsofscale.com/sosforums/...pof-modelship-dockyard-completed-build.12569/

An amazing Enterprise was built here : https://shipsofscale.com/sosforums/threads/make-hms-enterprise-1-48-cafmodel.8503/

My heart goes with the Enterprise while my brain says Blandford.......From my research the Blandford is an easier built for first time POF chaps like me.

Let's see which prevailsROTF.
Cheers Grant
