HMS Blandford 1:48 POF Modelship Dockyard [COMPLETED BUILD]

Hello Ken, I just spent the last little bit enjoying your very fine build log here. I loved your introduction with a view of your work area and previous builds.
While this may be your first POF your craftsmanship it is right up there with the best of them. I will be looking forward to watching the rest of this
Hi Daniel, it's a pleasure to have you along again on one of my logs, and thanks for your kind, complimentary comments. I hope that I can keep you entertained.

Hello Everyone, thanks for following and for those likes that your giving. Again this is just some photos showing how I'm progressing. I've done the ladders down to the galley, added a little more stuff around the stove so that completes the hold. I've fitted a simple waterway which neatens off the deck edging, fitted the knees at the rear that are above the deck and I've started the batens. There's not much description needed so I'll just show the photos

Hello, I was mistaken when I thought that world troubles couldn’t get any worse, well at least in my work room they just have. I went and dropped Blandford, sods law meant that it fell on the transom and caused quite a bit of damage to that delicate area, I don’t even have a cat that I can kick. It was my fault for not being careful enough. When putting one of the batons in, the piece fell through the beams into the hold, I turned the hull upside down to shake it out but it fell from my hands, that’s one of the problems when you don’t have enough fingers. I withdrew to my sitting room, muttering unprintable phrases and had a cup of tea before returning and checking the damage. The breaks to my relief were clean so hopefully I don’t think that there will be any issues with a repair just a small setback.

Is there something about the name Ken which jinxes transoms!

Flipping heck!! (Or there abouts) . It looks like the jig saved it from serious damage . At least it looks salvageable

Hi Ken,

impressed by the inner hull work - I have just about managed to build one deck house in the last month compared to your speedy efforts! The damage doesn't look too bad - I would just put it down to battle damage. These things happen, I managed to scrape my Bluenose right down the side just after finishing painting the hull, it took me the best part of a week to repair.

Autch …… that not a post where we are waiting for, Ken. But now you are part of the club who made a ‘restoration during a new build’.
Fingers crossed …
Regards, Peter

Your work is looking great as you get more done, other than the drop.

Have you thought of adding some small ballast rocks in the bottom of hold, under barrels, most all ships had ballast to maintain the balance for and aft.

Hi Kurt, Thanks. I’m not going for realism on this build so I’m afraid no stone ballast, it would only be more to fall out next time that I tip the hull over to shake bits out.

I feel your pain, my brother Ken. I have absolutely no doubt you will be rebuild it even better. We endeavor to persevere! ;) After the initial shock and disappointment, we dust it off and reconstruct. And, for me at least, with every break or re-do, the next one is less tragic!

Hi Ken, Thanks for your sympathy and upbeat comment. As I mentioned the breaks were clean and were easier to re construct than I first thought, by the end of the day it was all done, you would never know it had been damaged, it’s called character building.

Hi Dom, Thanks for your compliment. Yes these things happen, it’s not the first time for me nor the worst damage either, as it turned out it was an easy fix, and at least I got sympathy from my wife which was nice.
