HMS Victory by Y.T.- Mamoli - 1:90 scale

Here how the build looks now. All carriages are installed against the ports. There will be no way to install them if decks above the current one are installed. This is where Mamoli instructions suck as they do not mention of this problem till much later into their instructions. By that time a builder who follows their instructions is screwed. If I am not correct in this statement please point this out to me. I am ready to apologize if I was wrong. Note that carriages and bulwarks walls which are going to be visible through the upper deck large hatch are all special. Carriages are of extended type as we saw in my posts above. Walls are painted yellow ochre and were built up for thickness. Gun barrels are going to be installed after upper decks are built and second planking is installed.

I will install gun barrel hold down brackets (sorry for not naval term) only on the guns which are conspicuously visible - 10 guns visible through large upper deck hatch and ones on the upper deck. All guns located under the deck and hardly visible will not get those brackets. Instead these carriages are getting imitation of the bracket by just painting them on with black paint.

As I arrived to building walls with doors and windows around the steering wheel I discovered Mamoli let me down again. They wanted me building this... See pictures. This looks as as farmers animal barn! Look at these disproportional cast doors and plastic windows. Just awful. I cannot accept such monstrosity in my build.

Those doors are a vast improvement, it makes you wonder what ship the kit manufacturer was looking at,
Cheers Andy

Excellent - well planned execution of the planking layout -

I applied a hard wood strip lining all across the keel - do not want to see any traces of cheap lining provided in the kit. Waterline is now drawn. I am preparing the hull to accept an imitation of copper plates which will be painted with copper paint later. I had to build up some body on the hull at the rear (stern quarters). Issue was the moldings hanging off the bottom of the stern quarter sides would not fit right. The surfaces I initially created were curved too much. I had to straighten them up so they fit moldings in the kit and by accident to look more like real Victory.
