Why did you not use the same timber as for the planking? It gives a really light and not dominant impression o the finished hull. The treenails are after the finish a little bit darker than the planking itself.

Hello Christian, it was only a sample so far and as it looks I will also use pear wood for the tree nails.I will follow your advice and tips as I think it would look very unstable.

Here is an example of how the tree nails and the wood for the planks at Le Coureur look after treatment with Tung oil. It's the same wood as my La Palme. What do you think?

I am in synch with Stephan, treenails on the darker planks look perfect, and the lighter planks are a bit darker but... we don't treat them as individual planks, the whole deck looks perfect and in harmony with the treenails.

For the pear wood it looks perfect, for the light colored timber the tree nails are to dark in my opinion. But it is not a question what I like ...

Tree nailing is really a question of personal taste......

Hello everyone the first holes are drilled and the first tree nails are in place. I followed your advice and made the nails once from pear and once from maple. To see the effect I treated a small area with sanding primer.
