Wonderful work on the gun ports. In retrospect I should have deviated from my kit instructions and done them closer to your approach. Learning even as I am building, which isn’t ideal.

A small update:
The upper wale is installed and the floorboard between the lower wale is watered and adjusted. The plan for tomorrow is to put these on and prep the nail art and prepare the bottom wales.

Hello Stephan, Hello Uwe, you can get the square wire on Amazon in 0.6mm and 0.8mm. At the moment I'm looking for 0.4mm, so far only seen on AliExpress the problem I can't register there for some reason right now.

I have the problem to bring the quare wire into the round hole.
I guess you pre-drill with 0,5mm, but how you get the wire into the hole? Only pressing, or with hammer or how?

Stephan, however, such drills are not available in this mini size.



But joking aside, Uwe to your question, I pre-drill with 0.7mm and use pliers and a small hammer. Why 0.7mm, simple as that, the sidewalls are 0.6mm but the cross-section from corner to corner is thicker. By hammering in the nail you have a displacement in the wood that fills your gaps. I described it again earlier on page 8 and on page 9 a step-by-step explanation.

The time has come I sent Le Rochefort into the summer break now it's on to La Palme. In the last few days I have made some preparations and measurements, different heights have been marked. In the following step, the cannon ports and the whales have been marked, for the whales I use black hornbeam that I ordered from Vahur in Estonia (if you are interested, visit the hobbymill.eu website). Next, I watered and fixed these two days well. The first opening, i.e. the window in the rear area, was opened and the crossbeams inserted because this has to happen before the whales are attached because the window almost ends with them. I'll keep you posted and wish you a good night.
