USS Constitution by Model Shipways 1:76 scale.

The finishing touches have been put to the top construction: the RAIL with net.

First I took a 1/32" batten. Then I glued the STANCHIONS to the it.
To get a nice finished look, I glued one part of the net onto the 1/32" batten and then glued a second one on top so that the net was neatly sandwiched between the 2 battens...no net sticking out anywhere.
The same with the edge batten...net between 2 battens....

And tomorrow the big day: I wil assemble the three masts.....

I thought the masts were almost finished!
But, after studying plan 7 (standing rigging) I suddenly see that eyebolts may need to be attached to the mast caps (do I need these?)...
But the plan is anything but clear....
So I am now busy researching this in, among other things, the book "old Ironsides", photos, etc....

And I also wonder whether I should provide holes for the crowfeet.

Has someone any idea?

PS the masts are of course not yet fixed

It's time to post a update... ;)
I installed the eyebolts on the mast caps (8 per cap): I wished I did this before gluing everything together....
And finished the masts after installing the Topgalant crosstress....
The masts took me almost 3 weeks (much more details then I assumed in the beginning)...
And now I'm making the yards....

PS
a point of attention: some yards are only 3/32 thick... and need to be sanded to 1/8 at the ends... so many yards need to be sanded by hand... which is very time consuming...
(I tried it with the Lathe but the thin yards simply broke..).
