Thanks for the feedback. The stairs are made from a strip of timber, the steps where filed with the aid of a 3d printed jig.
These are the jigs I used to make a steps, the other block is used to cut the radius on the underside.
This is how the strip fits into the filing jig, the top of the jig is marked with a sharpie so I can see when the depth is correct.

I see the gun ports in this picture but I don't see guns in those ports.

Work continues with the bowsprit, painted and ready to be installed.
Dry fitted everything looked OK.
I used a string line to align the bowsprit while gluing.
On the original ship the gammon chain is held in place with threaded eye bolts, I'm using thin wire through the chain glued through a hole in the bracket. This proved to be a tricky operation no room to move.
It was only when I had the chains in place and tried to fit the gratings I realised that i had made the brackets to long and I could not fit the gratings or heads.
After a lot of inappropriate language and reworking with the bowsprit in place I successfully attached the chains.
Gratings are a tight fit and had to be cut down to fit, the heads also needed modifications to the drawings.
After all the problems I had with installing the chains I wish they where more visible on the model.

I decided to use ropes for the gammoning for various failed attempts at the chains
I considered using rope but could not work out how to fit the steps over the rope,. I tried the rope under, over and inbetween the steps and ended up using the chains.
How did you do yours?

I am not really sure yet. I haven't done anything yet. But I know that I won't be able to have two gammonings(is that a word?). Now having said that, I wish that the instructions would have said to do the bowsprit before putting in the rails. Now it's next to impossible for me to double up. I may have a better chance trying the chains again. Sigh here I go again...lol
I must say, the bow is kicking my butt. I hope it gets easier
