Yes but I cheated a little, I drilled the holes then filled with wood putty on this model. Sometimes I use brass wire and occasionally bamboo. I have a problem pulling bamboo through a drill plate. Arthritis does make some things a little painful.
 
Hi Mike

I built a couple of tools to help drew bamboo prior pulling it through a draw plate. I found it easier once I reached the drawplate to pull through.

Hi Geoff,
Thanks for posting your splitter jig. It looks like it will make the strips easier to run through the drawplate. I have a Byrnes Drawplate and have used it for several years. It does make good looking trunnels.

Main Wale & Exterior Planking:
The main wales were painted black on the ship but I wanted something a little different for the model so I used cardinal wood, it will darken over time. The planking is European beechwood and provides a nice contrast. The way I clamped everything together for gluing made for some interesting pictures.
