HMS Blandford POF by Keith [COMPLETED BUILD]

The anchors are both made and fitted to the fore mast channels. The rigging for the anchors on the catheads is probably the only rigging l shall do on this model and l have not included the hawse cables. l have deadeyes on order, as strangely they are not included with the kit, only the chainplates so will carry on and do what l can until they arrive in a couple of weeks

Very good work - very good appearance
and after the Alert you should make the Coureur !!

Hull is now all but complete with the channels, fenders and boarding ladders fitted. l have mounted the mainmast channels much too far forward. The positions of the channels are not actually shown on the plans, so l took it be be the first chaiplate/deadeye to align with the centre line of the masts. Blandfords channels were in fact much further back than that. A major error l shall have to live with. When the deadeyes arrive l can carry on with fitting the chainplates to finish off. Untill then l will take a look at the gun carriages and start to prepare the deck armament

Hi Keith,
You are creating something very special, and I don't think you are too far out with your main channels. Take a look at these photos of the NMM plans, from what I can see the channel sits just about 5mm behind the main mast. The plans are drawn in 1/48 scale. Hope this helps. Thank you very much for the info JJ. This is really useful and most encouraging

Making a start with the guns. 20 in all to be made up with the parts shown, so a few weeks work as the axles on the carriages all have to rounded off. The trunnions for the cannon barrels l made from cocktail sticks which fit nicely. These first two are in their rough state and not finished but, of course, l had to do a trial fit to see what they look like on the deck

The port-side guns are all in place. l got over need to plank the whole deck underneath the guns by just placing decking planks below the wheels of each carriage, offset with each other so as not to look too uniform. True Admiralty models did not show the guns but they are included with the kit and look too good to miss off. l won't be rigging them though unfortunately, as there is a limit to how much l can use my left hand and it doesn't go that far
