L´Amarante 1:36 POF

Hello Vladimir, very nice and clean work. Second small questions: 1st, are the lighter planks also pear or serviceberry? 2nd, why did you plank the port side or is the photo mirrored? As I learned from G. Delacroix, the starboard side of ships up to the French Revolution is usually shown as complete. Please don't misunderstand me, because it doesn't bother me personally. It was just a question I asked once in the forum because I noticed that it is usually the starboard side that is shown as complete and I asked whether there is a specific rule for this.

Hello Tobias,
both wood is pear, the lighter one is normal pear, the darker one is so-called steamed pear, which has a pink to purple hue. As for the second question - I don't know about this rule. I basically follow the drawings that show the starboard view. And then I also take into account which side has fewer visual errors .
Vladimir

Vladimir, I thank you for your answer, as far as the wood or pear is concerned, I almost expected that. I order most of my wood from Frank Massivholzwerkstatt. I get very good quality here, as far as the light and dark pear is concerned, I only know Vahur from Hobbymill who has it in his range. His quality is exceptionally good, so far I have only bought black hornbeam and boxwood from him. For the next project I will probably order everything from Vahur. Where do you get your wood from?

I bought a normal pear once on ebay, I also have a steamed pear from Frank. The advantage of wood from Frank is that I can buy a 45 x 200 x 1000 board there in very good quality. I think she also has a normal pear. The last time I bought black hornbeam was also from Hobbymill, I have boxwood from Turkey from Octopus.

Tobias and Vladimir, my dear friends
First I would like to salute each of you for your excellent and beautiful work on the model that we are building.
Your explanations and pictures help me a lot, I would appreciate as many as possible and with an emphasis on the stages of work and preparations Another

last request for me to you:
Could you please attach here the links to the wood stores/suppliers you mentioned above, so that I can purchase quality wood from them
thanks Shota

By the way, my friends
Where are you going to purchase the cannons for our model? I know it's still a long way off, but I'm starting to look for a quality provider at a reasonable price If you intend to produce it yourself, please let us know Maybe I will buy from one of you if he wants to produce for me as well.
I apologize if I overused the journal of Vladimir
Thanks in advance

A good point Shota, when I look at Vladimir's Le Gross I am convinced that he will build them himself again. As you have already indicated, there is still a long way to go and I have not yet thought about it, but one thing is certain: I will make the cannons myself. Which process I will use is not yet decided, turning or casting.

I trust you both that you produce high quality !
Whoever is willing to produce for me as well, I would be happy to pay
Of course the dialogue in the site's email privately
Thanks in advance

I can understand that having built the ship in beautiful wood, it is a long shot ... but have you thought about 3D printing the cannons? With a bit of patience one can create very fine detail.

First, thank you for your recommendation The problem is that I am not experienced in design and the question is whether the quality of the printing will be equal to brass I will attach a picture of a cannon that I printed from a free design online
