Here I shall try to make a build log. I have planked the boat and I dont know if I have much of pictures from that.
Warning, I´m really a beginner in this hobby even if I have tryed to build boats for 5 years now I have never completed anyone.
But maybe I can get some help here getting this one...
So I will preface this by saying that there is a kit out there I said I would purchase and am still very much in want of that kit. So please do not think me starting this log is in no means me not still wanting to purchase the kit.
Now onto the start of this post here.
So some background... I...
For over ten years I have been building models of sailing ships in asmall scale (1:150). This scale brings some limitations, but has the advantage that I can accommodate a larger amount of models in my apartment. Lately, I've been building mostly waterline models that I arrange for photos...
I have wanted to build this boat for many years and have finally come around to it. I have had experrience with building RC Airplanes and I did enjoy the building part but not the actual flying so I felt that being able to build a static model woould be a good choice. I will post some pictures...
Yet another famous "actor" of secular navigation: the Oseberg.
The boat was built in the last half of the 800's and was buried roughly 50 years later. The ship is some 50 to 100 years older than similar vessels which have be found.
I completed the kit a few years ago and, more than anything...
We all know the terrible story of the Andrea Gail, a swordfish fishing boat, which sank with the crew of 6 sailors in '91 and whose exploits were emphasized by the movie "The Tempest Storm".
Making the diorama I wanted to "block" a shot of the movie where you can see the various phases of...
Although this in not my first build, it is my first log, so bear with me while I try to figure this out.
This summer I picked up a Artesana Latina's original San Fransisco kit from the bargain bin in a local hobby shop. I did not have a clue of what to expect. Fortunately I found the...
Welcome to my build log! Let's start with the basics:
Norske Love – Billing Boats
Scale 1:75 = 101 cm (39.76 in) long x 90 cm (35.43 in) tall x 20 cm (7.87 in) wide
HISTORY:
The Norske Love (Norwegian Lion) was designed by Frederik Michael Krabbe, a naval officer and leading ship designer...
Hi everyone. This is the 3rd ship I have built. The first 2 were solid hull ships. My first ever was the Charles W. Morgan. I don't remember the manufacturer. The second was Evergreen by Mini Mamoli.
So far I'm pretty pleased with the quality and fit of this kit. I struggled finding the best...
It's my pleasure to introduce my version of the famous Swedish VASA warship. I invite all to join in on this my second major build. My wife's mother was from Sweden and her dad was from Denmark. A few years ago she had the opportunity to visit relatives in Sweden and visited the VASA museum . So...
I started this kit in 1993 and made progress till birth of sons and life and put in storage. Am starting again progress so far of billings kits of the 90s may be second release of ship and colors incorrect to start.
I joined a little while back but never posted. Thought I would share my build. This is my first ever. Still a huge work in progress. Enjoy! Please feel free to comment or offer ideas!
A new shipyard to change a little bit the stones...
This is the BillingBoats kit of a boat that you don't see much: a Nordlandsboat!
Direct descendant of the landskips of the peoples of Northern Europe.
The Nordlandsbaaden is a type of boat from Nordland, northern Norway, and dates from the...
I bought the Billings Kit of the St.Roch to start back into building wooden boats. The laser cutting is nice, much better than the die cutting was. BUT in the last 40 years, see they have not updated the instructions or the plans! With a back ground in CAD, CNC, CAM, if a student handed the...
Here are some first pictures of the Billing Boats kit of the Danmark. A project that has been on hold for almost 30 years. I have finished the decks and started with planking the hull. I am quite satisfied with the result as it is my first kit (maybe I should have started with a more simpler...
Here is a photo log of Danmark.
It was given to me as a project started by a gentleman who passed away.
I decided to complete it as there are too many unfinished projects left this way.
It was basically roughly planked hull and a box of bits.
The first pic is well into my attempt of bashing it...
I love Norwegian wooden boats, so it was a clear must have when i found this beauty in a webshop. i shall build her on the side as i work on my nordlandsbåt. Or maybe i will build two, i always scan or draw my parts somewhere before building these small kits, just in case i get the urge to do...
I am a new member and have seen a few questions arise about this kit. So this is a short build log, for reasons I will get into later, but most importantly a review of what to expect with this kit. Along with a few techniques used, which may or may not be of any value.
Good Day Folks, I joined this august body a good way through the Enterprise, and after reading about the US Navy founding, decided to try building her squadron mate...
